The team at Specsavers in Wigston held a fundraising day on Saturday 25 January, raising £100 in aid of local hospice charity, LOROS.
Sponsored bike ride
The day included a sponsored static bike ride and cake sale in memory of a family member who recently passed away. Staff at the Bell Street store cycled the equivalent of the 106 miles to Chapel St Leonards, the favourite place of manager, Jane’s, father who had support from the charity towards the end of his life.
Store director, Kay Chotai, said: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting LOROS, a charity very close to many of our hearts and we’re very grateful to our customers for their support this weekend. I know it was a surprise for Jane, as the team wanted to do something to show they have been thinking of her.’
Manager, Jane, added: ‘It has been a really difficult time for me and my family and I’d like to say a huge thank you to the team for arranging this day in dad’s memory.’
LOROS Hospice is a local charity caring for over 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland each year. It provides free compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers.
