STAFF at a Maldon opticians will be hosting their very own cricket-inspired charity event to coincide with their sponsorship of England Cricket Captain’s Alastair Cook’s Big Six tournament.

On Saturday 10 May, Specsavers Maldon, located at 65 High Street, will be holding a dedicated cricket inspired clinic for customers, teaching them all about the importance of eye health in sport. There will also be competitions for children to design a cricket bat and a guess the number of cricket balls in the jar, in exchange for donations to charities, MIND and Chance to Shine.
The store will also be offering customers the chance to win a pair of designer glasses from the store’s extensive selection of frames. Community Store director, Paul Wickson says: ‘We are really proud to be sponsoring Alastair Cook’s Big Six tournament and supporting a cricket legend that used to play for Essex County Cricket Club.
‘As one of the official sponsors of the event we want to do all we can to ensure customers are aware of the importance of eye health in sport.’
The Big Six tournament will be taking place on Saturday 18 May at Maldon Cricket Club, with England Cricket Captain and former Maldon player, Alastair Cook taking part in an eight-a-side tournament in aid of MIND, Chance to Shine, David Randall Foundation and PCA Benevolent Fund.
