Specsavers in Weymouth has distributed 70 high visibility vests to Thornlow Preparatory School.

Promoting road awareness

The store is backing Road Safety Week, which was created by the road safety charity Brake to promote road awareness.

Mrs Fowke, Headmistress at Thornlow Preparatory School, said: ‘We’re very grateful to Specsavers for the high visibility vests; they will be put to extremely good use.

‘The safety of our pupils is one of our top priorities. The high visibility vests will allow the children to be visible to cars on outings and school trips, especially now that it’s approaching winter and it is becoming darker earlier.‘

Local children

Specsavers store director, Mark Hayles said: ‘We’re very happy we can help the community by giving these vests to local children.

‘It’s getting a lot darker at night, so we thought we would give the vests out now to help children be more visible on the roads.’
