Donations for international charity
Specsavers in Waterlooville has spent the last six months collecting more than 200 pairs of glasses for Petersfield Lions Club, which will be donated to people struggling to afford spectacles in the third world.
The team has been encouraging the local community to drop off their used and unwanted specs at the store, which are due to be sent to Petersfield Lions Club for its annual SpecTrek event. The initiative sees around 50 Lions Clubs in Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire collect more than 100,000 unwanted glasses every year, which are then sorted and graded before being sent overseas.
Bill Vance, store director at Specsavers Waterlooville, said: ‘We’d like to thank all of our customers who have dropped off their old glasses at the store for the Lions Club appeal.
‘We’re big supporters of the charity and all the donations we receive will help provide glasses to people living in difficult circumstances.’
Send in your specs
Specsavers Waterlooville is continuing to collect glasses for Petersfield Lions Club and is aiming to donate more than 400 pairs by the end of the year. If you have any old specs to hand, please donate them at the store today.
