Noel McMonagle paid a visit to Specsavers store staff to thank them for their mammoth efforts in raising over £3000 for the Foyle Hospice.
Hospice has supported local people for 35 years
The hospice has been providing specialist palliative care, services and support to people in the North West region for almost 35 years.
Staff from Ferryquay and Crescent Link stores raised the cash in memory of their much-loved colleague Michelle Doherty who passed away after a short illness in February. Michelle had asked her Specsavers ‘family’ to raise funds for the Foyle Hospice as she and her family had received such wonderful care, love and support from everyone at the hospice.
The Specsavers Derry ~Londonderry team undertook a range of fundraising activities including the hospice’s popular Female WALK RUN, wearing specially created ‘Team Michelle’ t-shirts.
Born and bred in Derry, Michelle Doherty was part of the team who opened the Ferryquay Street store back in 1994 and became its store manager in 2005.
Thank you to everyone who donated
Store director Maeve Walsh said, 'Everyone was delighted to welcome Noel McMonagle to handover all the funds raised in memory of Michelle. We all thoroughly enjoyed our fundraising activities. A big thank-you must also go to our customers and everyone who donated cash – we really appreciated everyone’s support.'
