Waltham Cross opticians support school screening Eyecare experts from Specsavers in Waltham Cross are encouraging schools in the area to sign up to receive free vision screening software.
The team from the Pavillions shopping centre store, together with Specsavers stores nationwide, have partnered with Thomson Screening to offer the easy-to-use technology to primary and secondary schools.
Teaching staff will be able to conduct a three minute test on each of the child’s eyes, which will generate a report for their parents or guardians, indicating whether they should undergo a thorough eye examination with an optometrist.
A word from the store director
Tony Martin, director of Specsavers in Waltham Cross, said: ‘We don’t want children to be hindered by poor eyesight and we’re delighted to be able to help schools identify when a child may need our help.
‘While we encourage all children of school age to come for an eye test in store every two years, we know that a proportion of these children have never had an eye test. The introduction of this software in schools could help transform attitudes and educate our young people from an early age about the importance of eye health.’
