Kicking off National Eye Health week this week with a bang, the team at Hucknall have a host of fundraising activities planned to raise vital funds in support of Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).
Staff will be fundraising throughout the week, selling raffle tickets for £1 per strip to customers with the chance of winning a basket filled with prizes, including a pair of the new range Cath Kidson specs, in their choice of sunglasses or single vision lenses, chocolates and optical goodies.
The team will also be holding a cake sale on Friday 23rd September, donating £1 from every sight test throughout the National Eye Health Week, and MOTing glasses in return for donations throughout September.
A new mission
Janet Archer, Specsavers Hucknall store director, commented: ‘It’s astonishing that so many people are needlessly living with or at risk of sight loss in the UK today. Half of all sight loss cases are preventable – and a simple eye test can be the first step in prevention.
‘Our mission together with RNIB is to transform the nation’s eye health through education, awareness and action; we want to reverse these worrying eye health trends that are putting unnecessary pressure on the health service and placing a massive burden on the public purse.’
The partnership comes at an exciting time, with recent findings from RNIB and Specsavers’ State of the Nation: Eye Health Report 2016 which emphasises the need for greater awareness about eye health in the UK and in promoting prevention through education.
