Competition winners receiving their prizes, with Specsavers staff and local authors
To celebrate World Poetry Day Specsavers Newport and the Wight Fair Writers teamed up to launch a spring poetry competition.

For two weeks, part-time poets on the Island submitted a poem using less than 400 words entitled Visions of Spring.
Judged by a local writing group
Judges from the Wight Fair Writers chose a winning entry in three age categories: adults, under 18s and under 12s.
The winning poems were published on the Wight Fair Writers website, as well as displayed in the Specsavers Newport waiting area.
The winner of the adults age category, Jennifer Viney won a free eye test, pair of designer glasses and a signed Bob and Carol Bridgestock book.
The under 18s winner, Maddie hardy won an eye test and pair of specs, and teenage book selected by the writers group.
Lily Alexander, winner of the under 12s, received a family cinema ticket and a signed Maggie Jones book.
