Two opticians in Fakeneham and East Dereham have donated hi-visibility vests to local primary school children.

The Specsavers stores, located at 17-19 Bridge Street and 31 Market Place have been fundraising for the road safety charity Brake during a recent annual awareness week, while also promoting road-awareness among pedestrians by distributing children’s high visibility vests in return for a £1 donation to the charity.

Kevin Osborne, store director at Specsavers Fakenham and East Dereham, says: ‘As the community’s optical specialists, we feel a responsibility to raise awareness of the importance of sight and visibility when using the roads.

As well as renewing our call to drivers to come for regular screenings, we’re also calling on our young people to help us set an example for other pedestrians over the winter months by staying visible to road users.
