Specsavers in Tring donated 200 high-visibility vests to Bishop Wood School to highlight the issue of road safety. The school donation was in aid of Road Safety Week, an initiative by the national road safety charity, Brake.

The high-visibility vests will be used for school trips as well as for the year 6 during their work shadowing presentation.

Staying safe near roads

Store director, Bindi Shah said: ‘We wanted to promote the importance of road safety and make sure that school children are safe and visible at night as the evenings get darker.

‘Since the days have become shorter, we hope our donation will help to keep children visible to cars while teachers’ are escorting the children while out and about on trips.’

The road safety charity

Road Safety Week (17-23 November) is an initiative to create maximum awareness by the charity Brake. The charity exists to help prevent deaths and injuries which happen on roads on a daily basis, through campaigns. Brake also promotes safe and sustainable road use and helps to implement effective road safety policies.
