Staff from Devizes Specsavers turned out to cheer on cyclists as the Tour of Britain raced through the town on Friday (12 September).

The team also took the opportunity to raise awareness among spectators about the important role regular eye tests have in road safety. Staff handed out 100 goody bags filled with water bottles, keyrings, pens and sweets.

‘It was so exciting to see the likes of Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins race through our town and hopefully our goody bags helped people enjoy the day a little bit more,’ said Karen Carvallo, store director. ‘We also thought it was important to remind people of the importance of regular eye examinations in maintaining good eye health and ultimately stay safe on the roads.’

Before Stage Six of the Tour got underway, police outriders led the way to make sure the route was clear before the cyclists raced through. To the excitement of the crowd, Bradley Wiggins surged across the line to complete the stage in second place, making sure the cycling fans who turned out were not disappointed.
