Torquay and Teignmouth staff get muddy for Cancer Research
Staff from Torquay and Teignmouth Specsavers stores have raised £1,000 for Cancer Research UK by taking part in Rock Solid, one of the toughest mud obstacle races in the country.
10k assault course
Staff members tested their agility and teamwork skills by battling through the 10k assault course, based in Escot Park in Exeter. 10 of them enrolled as the ‘Filthy Animals’ team to raise money for Cancer Research UK, following the recent loss of store director Joy Filon who had been suffering from cancer.
Team building exercise
Specsavers Torquay and Teignmouth store director, Simon Simmonds says: ‘I had the idea of entering a staff team into Rock Solid as a great team building exercise, all while raising money and support for Cancer Research UK.
Raising money for charity
‘The guys picked up the challenge and smashed it! I am immensely proud of them all. It was a difficult activity and to raise £1,000 for charity makes it even more special.’
Tough but enjoyable experience
Torquay staff members Monelle and Kim comment: ‘It was one of the toughest things we’ve ever done, but we really enjoyed it! Our donation to Cancer Research makes the pain all worthwhile.’
