Thanks for donations to Mold's many generous specs-wearers
Generous specs-wearers across Mold have donated thousands of pairs of unused and unwanted old glasses to charity in 2015, which will improve the lives of people in Africa with poor vision.
Thousands of frames donated locally
Specsavers on High Street works with international charity Vision Aid Overseas, and has this year has almost 5,500 pairs of glasses in store for the charity.
Vision Aid Overseas
Vision Aid Overseas is dedicated to fighting poverty by transforming access to eye care in developing countries. 670 million people - 10% of the world's population - are disadvantaged by poor vision and a lack of spectacles.
To date, Specsavers has channelled more than £800,000 into eye care charity Vision Aid Overseas. This contribution has helped open 10 vision centres across Zambia to serve people who previously had little or no access to eye care. Specsavers has committed to work with VAO until at least 2017 to support ophthalmic health professionals in the country.
All of the glasses donated will be recycled, with the money made used to help provide eyecare in developing countries.
Specsavers Mold would like to thank local people for their generosity.
