Specsavers in Telford the main sponsors of Newport Carnival this year and members of staff attended with special guests on stilts sporting circus-wear.
Three members of staff, Jack, Claire and Raven, from the store in the Telford Shopping Centre were on hand throughout the day alongside their taller counterparts, speaking to carnival-goers about the importance of regular sight tests and raising awareness about the enhanced services, contact lenses and hearing aids available at the store. The team was also handing out high-vis vests, goody bags and leaflets. If that wasn’t enough, they also held a raffle to win a free pair of specs worth £149.
The carnival parade saw lots of local businesses and organisations represented on colourful floats including schools, nurseries and clubs. Others joined in with stalls and put on window displays for the event.
A word from the store director
Telford store director, Vinay Najran, said: ‘We’re really keen to raise awareness of the importance of regular sight tests – and to make people aware that they are a vital eye health examination as well as a vision assessment.
‘The stilt-walkers were great fun, and everyone seemed to enjoy seeing them,’ he continues. ‘We’re always keen to attend events like this as it’s a great way to speak to members of the local community.’
