Specsavers in Telford has recently been named as a Platinum Employer in recognition of its dedication to employee engagement, wellbeing and career development.
The store, which currently has a team of 40, was externally assessed against five key areas including talent management, recruitment and induction, and learning and development to achieve the business accreditation.
‘We’re absolutely delighted to have achieved Platinum status – it was fantastic news to receive,’ said store director, Vinay Najran.

The prestigious Platinum Employer scheme was designed to support the recruitment and retention of store staff across the UK and Ireland.
Hearing from the team
Jagdeep Singh recently qualified as an optometrist having completed his training at the Telford Specsavers store. He commented: ‘My role requires me to constantly adapt and learn about the ever-changing world of optometry, but I’m always supported and given new opportunities to develop. I’m excited for what my future at Specsavers holds.’
Customer service advisor Jessica Ball also received training in Telford, beginning her career as an apprentice. ‘At 16-years-old, I was nervous to be starting my first job, but with the support of the team I have gained great experience and strengthened my skills,’ she says.
‘When I finished my apprenticeship, I was offered a full time position and for nearly three years, I’ve gained great administration experience, increased my optical knowledge and boosted my confidence. Without Specsavers, I wouldn’t have the skills or the confidence I do now.’
Fellow staff member Zoe Witham added: ‘I started my career at Specsavers four years ago and soon realised how much I enjoyed it and wanted to progress. With the encouragement of my directors, I have gone on to study at college and am due to qualify as a dispensing optician this year. The support I receive at Specsavers in Telford is fantastic and I know that I have every opportunity to progress. Knowing that we can make a big difference to someone’s eyesight is the best job satisfaction there is!’
