On Wednesday 19 April (10am -1pm) the Derry store is partnering with Guide Dogs NI to host a Great Guides Tea Party. Part of a local and UK wide series of tea parties aimed at raising much needed funds to support people living with sight loss.

Welcome to local guide dog owners

Guide Dogs NI staff and volunteers along with local guide dog owners and their canine companions are in store to chat to customers and visitors with refreshments available at a pop-up tea party stall. Everyone is invited to make a donation – large or small - to Guide Dogs NI.

Excellent support for people with sight loss

Maeve Walsh, store director said, ‘Specsavers has worked with the charity Guide Dogs for many years and has seen at first hand the excellent support they provide to people living with sight loss.’

‘The tea parties are a great community initiative and we’re looking forward to welcoming customers and shoppers into our store for a special Easter Week tea party.’

Community, tea and fun

Ursula McCanny from Guide Dogs NI said: ‘We’re encouraging people at home, work or within their local town or community to host a Great Guide Dogs Tea Party.

Every hour another person in the UK goes blind. When someone loses their sight, our charity is there to make sure they don’t lose their freedom as well.’
