Opticians lend their support to dementia
A Tavistock opticians is building upon its support for people who have a Dementia in the local community by training the team and raising awareness of the condition.
Store undertaking training
Following on from recent fundraising activity, almost all staff from Specsavers Tavistock, located at 3 West Street, have undertaken training to further equip them with the skills and knowledge required to meet customers’ needs.
The team raised vital funds for Dementia UK’s Time for a Cuppa Week, but wanted to go the extra mile and learn more about the disease which affects one in six people, over the age of 80, in the UK.
Support for locals
Sarah Routly, store director of Specsavers in Tavistock, says: ‘We always want to ensure that all of our customers receive the best possible service when they visit us. We have a large number of elderly customers, some with dementia, so specialist training seemed like the next step to ensure they have a positive experience in store.'
‘At a time when businesses in Tavistock are looking to provide extra services for dementia sufferers, we are pleased to get involved and offer our customers the extra support they may require during their visit.’
