Taunton set a personal best for fundraising
The team in Taunton not only smashed their personal best running the Bristol 10k but they have also beaten their £2,000 fundraising target for Cancer Research UK.
The Bristol 10k is the latest endeavour in a string of challenges that Taunton staff have been taking on for the charity. The recent Bristol 10k raised £760 towards their 2016 fundraising mission.
The 10k team included an outstanding performance from dispensing optician, Kevin Uren, who crossed the finishing line in an impressive 45 minutes.
Kevin said: ‘The blue skies and warm weather were very welcome on the day and definitely helped my race. I think it’s fair to say it made us all smile when we collected our medals.’
Emma Denham, store director at Specsavers in Taunton, says: ‘I’m incredibly proud of the runners for all their hard work, which began with training months before the race before and after work. The 10k has been a significant boost to our fundraising total and it’s lovely to see so many of the staff get involved.'
