Sweet treats served in aid of Hearing Dogs
A Glenrothes opticians and audiologists held a bake sale recently in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, raising £278.97 for the charity Specsavers Glenrothes offered an array of home baked goodies to sweet-toothed locals as well as doggy bags containing homemade peanut butter dog biscuits for their canine companions.
Optical assistant, Megan Gartshore from the store was joined outside the Rothes Halls by representatives from the Hearing Dogs charity, Ken Scott and Sandra Donaldson, who helped drum up support for the charity with help from assistance dog Spike.
Great response from locals
‘I’d like to thank Specsavers Glenrothes for choosing Hearing Dogs as the recipient of its fundraising,’ said, Hearing Dogs volunteer, Sandra. ‘We received a great response from locals and offered lots of information on the charity through the various merchandise available. The selection of home baking was superb and very well received.’
The opticians roped in the support from Lab Technician Wayne Ross and their resident star baker, Megan’s gran Jeanette Malcolm, who baked all of the cakes for the stall.
‘We were delighted to present a cheque for the funds raised to Hearing Dogs and I’d like to thank Ken and Sandra as well as the local community for their support and generosity on the day,’ said Megan.
