Sweet treats for Macmillan
The team at Specsavers in Belper showed off their spec-tacular baking skills on Saturday 19 September to raise money for this week’s Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Staff invited customers to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake in return for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support. Together they raised £375 for the charity.
‘Everyone made a great effort and it was a fantastic day of fundraising,’ said Andy McBride, store director. ‘We thought we had plenty of cake to last the day but by lunchtime we were almost sold out! We’d like to say a special thank you to Chris at Beaurepairre Patisserie who donated more sweet treats so the team could carry on raising money throughout the day.’
Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is the charity’s largest annual fundraising event, encouraging people to come together to enjoy a treat while raising money for the charity. Providing medical, emotional, practical and financial support, Macmillan is there for the more than 2.5 million cancer sufferers in the UK and their families.
