Sweet treats will be the theme on Friday (24 March) as Specsavers staff in Mere Green and Sutton Coldfield opticians raise funds for Comic Relief.

The teams at sister stores will be hosting their own red themed fundraising days, asking for donations towards the cause.

Fundraising frenzy

Staff at Sutton Coldfield will be honing their best Mary Berry baking skills with a cake sale, while the team at Mere Green will be encouraging visitors to ‘guess how many red sweets in a jar’, for a suggested donation of £1, with the chance to win a pair of designer specs worth £125*.

Comedy specs in-store

Alongside the sweet events staff will be sporting red and selling the official Red Nose Day comedy specs, which cost £2 and are available in store now in adult’s and children’s sizes. All money raised will be donated to Comic Relief.

Anyone who buys the specs will also be encouraged to strike a pose with their glasses and post the picture on social media with #GiveUsAWave to receive their own wave back ahead of Red Nose Day on Friday 24 March.

£250,000 pledge

Specsavers is supporting Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and has pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.

Specsavers has been a Comic Relief partner since 2015.
