Sugar rush at Specsavers Glenrothes all in aid of Comic Relief

Red Nose Day supporters in Glenrothes helped a local opticians to raise more than £1,000 for Comic Relief through a bake off and sales of its comedy waving hand glasses.

Specsavers in Glenrothes sold more than 400 pairs of the specs and offered up sweet treats to customers in a bake sale which raised £1,106 for Comic Relief in total.

Stewart Wilson, store director at Specsavers in Glenrothes, said: ‘We’d like to thank everyone in the town who supported our fundraising campaign and popped into the store to buy the specs.

‘The store team and their families all baked a superb number of cakes, biscuits and sweet creations. Everyone enjoyed the sugar rush and we are thrilled to have raised more than £200 on the bake sale alone.

‘Thanks to everyone for all the home baking and monetary contributions, we are delighted with our fundraising total.’

Specsavers in Glenrothes joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity. Specsavers stores across the UK raised a combined total of £475,000 in 2017.

Specsavers has been a Comic Relief partner since 2015.
