Specsavers in Gorseinon has raised more than £160 for children’s charity, Tŷ Hafan.

Luxury chocolate hamper

The High Street store held a raffle for a luxury chocolate hamper, which included various sweet treats donated by members of staff, raising £163 in ticket sales.

‘I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in donating to the raffle and congratulate local resident, Mrs Jones, on scooping the prize,’ says Sally Anne Colquhoun, store director of Specsavers in Gorseinon.

The 37 Specsavers stores across south and mid Wales kicked off a year-long partnership with Tŷ Hafan by donating £10,958 in September 2016 – the amount it costs the charity to provide 24 hours of care to a family – and the stores have continued to build on their totals with Christmas choirs, fitness activities and in-store fundraisers.

‘We’re extremely proud’

Sally Anne added: ‘The work that Tŷ Hafan does goes a long way in improving the quality of life for the children and the families it supports - we’re extremely proud to partner with them and to add more money to our running total.’

Tŷ Hafan cares for life-limited children and young people, and provides vital support to their families, both within the hospice and through its community outreach programme. Since 1999, it has supported 689 children across Wales, 263 of which are currently under its care.
