Specsavers in Swansea has donated 300 high visibility vests to two local primary schools.

The vests were donated to Danygraig Primary School and Hafod Primary School to help pupils be seen when out walking in the community in darker months.

Dispensing optician, Louise Whiffin, visited the schools to donate the vests and talk to the children about the importance of road safety.

Road safety lessons

Each school received 150 vests, which students will wear walking to and from lessons and on school trips.

Year One pupils at Hafod Primary School will also wear the vests during road safety lessons.

Kind donation

Louise Whiffin, dispensing optician at Specsavers in Swansea, said: ‘It was a pleasure to donate the high-visibility vests to the two local schools. The importance of pedestrians taking care on the roads when out is something that we proactively champion.’

Ben Curtin, Year Four teacher at Danygraig Primary School, said: ‘We would like to thank Specsavers for its kind donation to our school, and particularly to thank Louise for coming to speak to the children.

‘The vests will help us ensure the children are easily seen when they are out and about locally and on school trips.’
