A mother-of-four and an aspiring writer are both hoping to be crowned Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year after reaching the regional finals.
Chance to take home £10,000
David Hodge, 25, from Brynmill, and Siân Cosker, a 42-year-old from Morriston, could follow in the footsteps of last year’s Award winner, Shane Haron, and take home £10,000. They will also have the chance to mingle with the stars – including dancer Oti Mabuse, who launched the competition - at the annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards.
Glasses wearers across the UK and Republic of Ireland have been showing off their specs style by sharing their selfies online throughout the spring and summer.
Mr Hodge, an aspiring writer, and Mrs Cosker, a mother-of-five, were invited to visit the Specsavers store on the Kingsway to receive a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a voucher worth £150 each.
‘I love wearing glasses and wearing statement pairs,’ Ms Cosker says. ‘I feel like they’re as much a part of my look as my hair and tattoos.’
Mr Hodge adds: ‘I’ve worn glasses for about eight years now, but I’ve been told I look more approachable with them. People say I look like Moss from ‘the IT Crowd’ or J. Cole, which I love.’
‘Confident and funny’ finalists
Rob Whiskerd, director of Specsavers Swansea, adds: ‘It was such a pleasure meeting David and Siân. They were both confident and funny – exactly the right kind of people for this competition.
‘On behalf of the whole team at Specsavers Swansea, we wish them both the best of luck in the competition and we’re backing them all the way to the final.’
