Nick Baker, store manager at Specsavers in Swadlincote helped to raise more than £1,400 for children’s hospice, Rainbows, after competing in a charity golf event.
Nick and three of his friends competed in the event on Monday 6 May, which was organised by Mick Bolton and his family, who have a personal connection to Rainbows. More than 100 players assembled at Morley Hayes Golf Club to take part in the fundraising occasion dedicated to Loughborough-based charity, Rainbows. The hospice supports children, with life-limiting conditions, and their families and is the East Midland’s only respite charity for children and young people.
Lots of fun
‘I am a keener golfer than my ability allows, but the day was a lot of fun,’ said Nick. ‘I was delighted to hand over a cheque for £250 from the store which contributed to the overall total. It’s great to know that we’re helping Rainbows to continue their fantastic work.’
