The team from Specsavers Witney on their sponsored walk for Vision Aid Overseas
Staff from Witney's Specsavers put their best foot forward to raise money to support a colleague’s trip to Africa.
Team members took part in a 10-mile sponsored walk on Sunday 18 May, setting out from Bablock Hythe and following the Thames path to Tadpole Bridge near Buckland.
The money raised helped dispensing optician, Richard Goring fund a two-week trip to Ethiopia, organised by Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
‘We had a glorious day and raised £650,’ says Richard. ‘Friends and family have been very generous, as have our customers who have contributed to our collection tins in store.
Helping disadvantaged people to get glasses
'People in developing countries who do not have access to eycare can be disadvantaged by poor vision, affecting their education or ability to work.
Last year I had the opportunity to volunteer in Botswana with VAO, and it was an overwhelming experience so I was delighted to have the opportunity to go out to Africa again.’
