A local retailer is sharing its sunny disposition by hosting prize giveaways in honour of National Sunglasses Day.
Specsavers in Alnwick’s Bondgate will be getting into the spirit of summer by offering customers the chance to win their choice of sunglasses and a beach hamper to mark the annual awareness day on Thursday 27 June.
Entrants will be asked to make a donation to leading sight loss charity the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) at a special collection point in store.
Adults will be invited to guess how many sweets are in the jar, with the winner taking home a pair of prescription shades, while children can take part in a colouring competition, with a summer-ready hamper up for grabs for the best picture.
The drive behind the initiative
Grant Welsh, retail director at Specsavers in Alnwick, said: ‘We want to ensure our community understands the importance of staying safe in the sun with glasses that offer the best protection from harmful ultraviolet rays.
‘That’s why we’re taking the opportunity to celebrate National Sunglasses Day in store, with prizes for adults and children alike, and a chance to chat with our experts about the best summer styles.
‘And moreover, we’ll be raising invaluable cash for a charity very close to our hearts.’
The competitions will be launched in store on Monday 24 June and run until Saturday 29 June.
The RNIB is one of the UK’s leading sight loss charities and the largest community of blind and partially sighted people. It offers practical and emotional support and campaigns for change.
