Schools from across Sussex recently descended on Brighton to take part in the Specsavers Sussex School Games Cross Country Finals.

Teams from Brighton & Hove Hawks, Central Sussex Dolphins, Crawley Cougars, Hastings and Rother Leopards, Mid Sussex Panthers, North Wealden Warriors, South Downs Giants, Southern Sharks and West Sussex West Wolverines took part.

Fun in the sun

In total, 270 primary school pupils enjoyed the sunshine and ran the 1.25 mile course, cheered on by a large crowd.

The medals were presented by England marathon runner James Westlake from Haywards Heath.

Well done

Badrinath Mohandas, store director in Hailsham and Uckfield and regional chair for the Specsavers stores in Sussex, said: ‘We would like to say a massive well done to all the children who took part on the day. While there are always winners, the most important thing is taking part – and the active lifestyle that events like this encourage.

‘We are delighted to be sponsoring the Sussex School Games, and look forward to the main event in June.’
