Specsavers in Stretford have made it their mission to ensure children are safe during the dark winter days by donating 170 high visability vests to a local primary school.

Helping pupils to be seen

Store director, Steve Arran, spends his days helping people to see and is now making sure that the youngsters can be seen. The jackets were donated to St Mary's CE Primary School in Davyhulme as part of Road Safety Week.

On the road

Steve said: 'The school does not have a lot of its own facilities so i know the kids are on the road quite a lot going back and forth to different places.'

St Mary's, which has 210 pupils, is on an extremely busy road and children have had a few near misses in recent months, the school says.
