Store grows skilled workforce
Two staff members at the Specsavers store in Cwmbran have recently passed professional exams to qualify as an optometrist and dispensing optician.
Rebekah Scott, aged 22, has been working at Specsavers in Cwmbran for 12 months as a pre-reg optometrist. After successfully passing her professional exams, she will now continue to develop her career as an optometrist at the Llywelyn Walk store, which will take the number of full-time optometrists at the store to seven.
Also newly qualified is Rachel Hunter, aged 35, who has worked at the store for 10 years. Rachel began her career with Specsavers as a dispensing assistant in 2004 and worked her way up to become manager of the store in 2011. She is now a fully-qualified dispensing optician.
Rhys Williams, store director, said: ‘It’s certainly an achievement to pass professional exams, while maintaining a full-time job and I’m thrilled for both Rebekah and Rachel. It makes me very proud to see our staff members’ progress and develop their careers, and increasing the skill set of the Cwmbran store team will no doubt strengthen the store’s offering to our customers.’
