Staff of Specsavers Ballymena are showing off their baking talents at their all-day bake sale on Friday 13 December. Every penny made from selling traybakes and sweet treats will go towards the charity Friends of VisPa, a locally developed charity which supports projects in Kisumu, Kenya.
An international sight saver
Specsavers, Ballymena optician Jill Holmes has been working with the charity for four years by going out to Kenya each year to help provide glasses to those in need. The funds raised at the bake sale will be contributing to the funds needed to deliver 31 operations - two of which are for growths, two for glaucoma and the remaining 27 for cateract operations.
Additional activities to raise funds for the charity includes ‘Guess the number of glasses sides’ in a large jar with the prize being a gift which has kindly been donated by Specsavers Ballymena and money from the store’s ‘Wear a Christmas Jumper’ days.
