Stockport man has specs appeal
Stockport customer 51-year-old Jose Malabuyoc was selected as a regional finalist in the 45-59 age category in the North West, beating out hundreds of other entries.
Store director Deborah Morley presented him with a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a £150 Specsavers voucher in store as Jose took part in a special regional finalist photoshoot

Jose, who moved to Stockport from Isle of Man, started visited Specsavers for his glasses over 7 years ago and has since worn his specs with pride.
He said: ‘I’ve worn glasses for what feels like forever now, It’s always been something I’ve done and it’s something my family has always done as well – it’s part of my daily life”
‘It’s great to see that nowadays, attitudes towards glasses wearers has changed as it can be seen as stylish and trendy. People should be more confident when wearing them.”
Jose said he had no idea his wife had entered him into the competition and was pleasantly surprised when he found out he had been named a regional finalist. ‘I was actually caught off guard when I’d heard, I really didn’t expect to get this far in the competition.’
Deborah Morley, store director at Specsavers in Stockport said: ‘We’re thrilled to see someone from Stockport make it this far in the competition. It was a pleasure to meet Jose and we really think he could go all the way and take the grand prize as a very deserving winner. Everyone in the Stockport team is going to be cheering him on over the next few weeks.’
Every entry into the Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition leads to £1 being donated to anti-bullying charity Kidscape.
