Specsavers in Rhyl is pledging to improve safety in the area, by helping to keep children safe from traffic in darker hours.

High visibility vests

The store has donated hundreds of high visibility vests to nine local schools, Brownies and Scouts groups, a dog shelter - where dog walkers will make use of the vests - and an RAF club.

Wintry weather

At this time of year with the dark mornings and nights, combined with increasingly wintry weather, it can be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians. Many children are walking home from school, out on trips, or on their way to Brownies and Scouts at dusk, which is a particularly hazardous time.

Making it easier for motorists to spot children

The optician is pledging its commitment to road safety by providing high-visibility vests, which will improve the safety of children when out and about by making it easier for motorists to spot them.
