A team from a Staines opticians raised the stakes in its fundraising efforts with a 125-mile in-store cycle on Friday 21st March in aid of Sport Relief.
6 members of staff from Specsavers Staines Opticians and Hearing Centre, located at Two Rivers, Norris Road, raised over £180 in sponsorship for their 200km journey on exercise bikes, kindly lent to them by Virgin Active Staines. The team started at 9.30am and took turns cycling until 4pm, smashing their 100 mile target.
Fun and challenging
Helen Belkhodja, store director of Specsavers in Staines, says: ‘Sport Relief is a huge date on the fundraising calendar and we wanted to pay homage with something fun and challenging. I think the in store cycle definitely provided that!
We'd like to thank locals for helping us beat our £100 target.’
Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. Since 2002, Sport Relief has raised over £195 million. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world.
