The team at Specsavers in Didcot stepped in to support one of their customers, Kelly Hogan, in her bid to raise funds for Oxford Radcliffe Hospital (ORH) Charitable Funds.
Staff at the store donated gifts which were raffled off at the Harwell Fete on 30 May, while Kelly sat in a bath where people could throw various food items over her – for a donation! All in all Kelly raised more than £1,000 on the day which will go to Ward 5F at Oxford Radcliffe Hospital.
‘We were happy to step in and support Kelly with her fundraising efforts and all credit to her for sitting in that bath and being covered in beans and spaghetti – it certainly didn’t look like fun,’ said store director, Rukhsana Bi.
A special cause
Kelly was carrying out the fundraising on behalf of her friend Claire Louise Butler, whose late grandfather was looked after on Ward 5F, so they wanted to give something back.
The ORH Charitable Funds supports the hospitals, departments and wards within Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. Money raised helps transform the hospitals, funding the latest medical equipment, research and facilities.
