Yate team raises cash for Genetic Disorders UK

Staff at Specsavers in Yate have swapped their uniforms for casual clothing to raise money for the Genetic Disorders UK charity.

The team took part in the national Jeans for Genes day on 18 Specsavers, raising £100 by donning denims and selling homemade cakes to customers.

Store director, Jane Morgan, said: ‘We’re proud to support the work of this important cause and would like to thank everyone who popped into the store to donate.’

It is estimated that 1 in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder. This means that in the UK, 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed each year and more than half a million children and adults are living with a genetic disorder.

The money raised on Jeans for Genes Day helps the charity to provide support services and grants to disorder-specific charities.
