Staff at Specsavers in Cheltenham are encouraging locals to make a donation towards their fancy dress walk for neonatal charity, Scoo-B-doo.
Specsavers on the High Street is taking part in a fundraising walk on Sunday 30 June to raise money for the Gloucestershire-based charity. So far, 28 members of the team have entered and will be splitting into two groups, with one wearing pink fancy dress and the other blue.
The team will be setting off from the Cheltenham store and going through Prestbury, Southam and onto Bishops Cleeve. The route will then pass Cheltenham Racecourse bringing staff back to the High Street, totalling a distance of just under 10 miles.
A word from the store director
‘We all love walking; most of us walk to work every day, so it was easy to accept the challenge and raise a target of £500’ says Terry Weldon, Cheltenham store director. ‘The only obstacle will be the weather, but we have our fingers crossed for some sunshine.’
Scoo-B-Doo is a neonatal charity run by volunteers that supports the Neonatal unit of Gloucestershire Hospital. More than 80% of the equipment used on the ward had been funded by the charity, helping to ensure the babies are given the best possible care. Scoo-B-Doo relies on donations to provide equipment and essential items to sick and premature babies in Gloucestershire and beyond.
