Neil Drain is store director at Specsavers in Bishopbriggs

Neil Drain is the store director and optometrist at the newly opened Specsavers store in Bishopbriggs.

Neil has worked with Specsavers for seven years and is also the store director in the Kirkintilloch Specsavers store.

As well as his Optometry degree, Neil holds an Independent Prescriber qualification. This means he is qualified to prescribe medicines for minor eye conditions which can save patients a trip to their GP.

I am 35 years old and have been qualified for 8 years as an optometrist and I now work part time, I have 4 children who keep me very busy outside of work.

How did you come to work at Specsavers in Norris Green?

I did my pre-registration period with Specsavers and I have worked for Specsavers ever since in various stores around the North-West. I have been at Norris Green store for 5 years.

Meet Gavin Lund

27-year-old Gavin who lives in Basingstoke has 10 years of retail experience, having worked for other high street opticians in his previous roles.

Gavin said: 'I am thrilled to join the friendly team here at Alton, and what an honour it is to work for such a successful business that was founded in 1984 by husband and wife team, Doug and Dame Mary Perkins.

Brunswick staff celebrate platinum employer award

Specsavers Brunswick is celebrating after recently being awarded Platinum Employer status for its pledge to developing skills and improving communication among its staff members.

The opticians received the honour after being externally assessed on five key areas of business standards, including performance management, recruitment and induction, and learning and development.

The team at Specsavers Uckfield dressed up for Halloween

Customers visiting Specsavers Uckfield this Halloween were in for a terrible fright.

Staff at the store, in the High Street, took advantage of the season to get dressed up in their best fancy dress clothes.

Business as usual

Badrinath Mohandas, store director in Uckfield, said: ‘We hope we did not scare any of our customers too much this Halloween. While the faces might have looked a little scarier than they normally do, it was business as usual in all other respects.’

My name is Maia and I am 24. 

How did you come to work at Specsavers in Old Swan?

I have worked at Specsavers Old Swan since I was 17, started off working Saturday's and school holidays then when I completed my A Levels I started full time at this store.

I went on to complete an OCA and Cert 4 qualifications and currently in my third and final year of university to qualify as a Dispensing Optician.
