The St Austell store recently celebrated 30 years of high street heritage by giving away hundreds of cupcakes to its loyal customers – plus the chance to win a pair of designer glasses.
Staff at the store marked the milestone anniversary by hosting a prize draw for the specs, which were won by loyal customer Christine Trevethan. Christine, 48, came in to the store the following week to pick out her designer frames of choice with the help of a frame stylist.
The team wore their favourite fancy dress costumes and handed out 250 free cupcakes to those that visited the store for the birthday celebrations.
‘The birthday celebrations were a great success and the cupcakes went down a treat with the customers,’ said St Austell local, Eric Barkhuysen who joined as director in October 2006. ‘We’re lucky to have so much support from the community so it was the least we could do.’
St Austell was the eleventh Specsavers store to launch and is, therefore, one of the longest established branches with more than 180 staff passing through the doors since its inception.
