A Boscombe opticians is going the extra mile to support young athletes, hosting a dedicated fundraising week in store.
The team from Specsavers in the town will be donning their sportswear and championing SportsAid, a charity which supports the UK’s brightest sporting prospects.
More about the initiative
From Sunday 17 April, visitors to the store can take part in a free consultation and trial of contact lenses, with £1 for each free trial being donated by Specsavers to the special cause.
Those considering wearing contact lenses to help them enjoy sports more fully are invited to visit the eyecare experts in store for a complimentary consultation at this time.
A word from the store director
Andreas Booth, store director at Specsavers in Boscombe, said: ‘As eyecare specialists, we meet a lot of young sportspeople who require our expertise to help them perform to the best of their abilities. However, many of them also require vital support from charities like SportsAid to help them continue to follow their dreams and realise their potential.
‘We welcome anyone considering wearing contact lenses for sports to pop by for a free consultation with our experts, as we aim to raise a fine sum for this special cause.’
More about SportsAid
SportsAid supports young athletes who currently don’t receive funding to help them continue to train and compete. Almost two-thirds of the British team at the London 2012 Olympics were former and current SportsAid recipients. The charity funds these athletes entirely through donations.
