Specsavers stores at Newlands and Sauchiehall Street have sponsored Pollok United 2008’s football team, enabling the players to sport brand new strips.
The 2008 team is made up of enthusiastic youngsters aged eight to nine, who train weekly on a Tuesday evening at the Dennis Donnelly Park in Glasgow.
The team is part of the Pollok United Soccer Academy, which has an SFA Community Club status, and is committed to providing a pathway from mini kickers to senior football.

‘We are extremely pleased to be able to help Pollok United 2008’s team and gift them with new strips through the sponsorship. We hope the strips give them an extra spring in their step when playing in their future games.’
A word from the team’s head coach
Ian Finlayson, head coach, said: ‘We are really grateful for the support we have received from Specsavers.
‘I know all the boys are extremely excited to be playing in brand new strips, they all train really hard each week and play really well together as a team. They were especially excited to be presented with the new kit by SFA referee Steven McLean.’
