Sporting youngsters grateful for Specsavers’ support
A group of Brownhills footballers visited their local Specsavers recently to thank members of staff for helping the team raise money for an opportunity to play in Spain.
Girls from the Millfield School football team popped into the store to talk to members of staff who helped the team raise £75 through fundraising in store. The money will help the youngsters fund their way to Spain, where they have been selected to play against other national teams.
Store director Justine Page commented: ‘We were delighted to receive a visit from the Millfield School football team. They are brilliant players and a great example to other young people to join in with local sports. Things like this just go to show that hard work and commitment can go a long way.
‘This is a fantastic opportunity for the team and the school, and we wish the girls the best of luck both in their fundraising, and for the tour in Spain next year!’
Dream come true
The team’s coach Will Stacey commented: We’d like to say a big thank you to Specsavers in Brownhills for their help and support. We’ve still got a way to go before we can head to Spain, but we will continue to work hard to raise as much money as we can.
‘The girls are wonderful team players and have worked so hard to get where they are now. Three years ago, the team hadn’t played much football at all, so to get to this level – and having remained unbeaten all season – is a really great achievement. Competing in Spain next year would be a dream come true for the girls and a chance to show them what we can do! Every penny donated is getting us one step closer to that.’
Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so by visiting Millfield Primary School.
