Bert visits Specsavers Trongate Opticians

In the midst of the Glasgow summer buzz, sporting star Bert Cameron dropped into Specsavers for an eye test while staying in the city.

The retired Jamaican sprinter – who currently coaches the world’s fastest runner, Usain Bolt – visited the city centre opticians during a break from his busy sporting schedule.

Bert – who represented Jamaica at three consecutive Olympics – won the 400m title at the first Athletics World Championships as well as a number of gold medals at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Canada.

Debbie Clark, assistant manager at Specsavers Trongate, said: ‘There was a real buzz in the city and we were only too happy to welcome Bert into the Trongate store as he’s such a sporting legend. He spoke of how friendly and welcoming the Glaswegians have been which is testament to our wonderful city.’
