The Blackburn team is inviting children to don their spookiest fancy dress for a special Halloween party and also receive a free eye test on Monday, October 31.
Staff at Blackburn’s two Specsavers stores at Lord Street Mall and Morrisons superstore will also be in their fancy dress from 9am-5pm, and will be offering parents the chance to win a family ticket to see the Sinbad pantomime at the Thwaites Theatre this Christmas.
As well as raising awareness of children’s eye health in the town, the day will be packed with activities such as face-painting and games and will also include a cupcake sale and raffle for adults offering the panto prize, all in aid of Derian House Children’s Hospice.
The event is aimed at children under 16.
Blackburn store retail director Mandy Jeewooth is looking forward to the event: ‘Our team love fancy dress and, of course, Halloween is an opportunity to put on our spookiest and most entertaining outfits so it’s going to be a real spook-tacular event.
‘We are committed to working alongside local schools to raise awareness of children’s eye health care and vision correction, so we hope that as many local kids will be able to join us for a great fun day.
‘We can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with for their outfits.
‘We’ll have six optometrists testing across both stores performing tests while our fantastic team will be on hand throughout the day.’
Derian House provides specialist care & support for children and young people with a life threatening illness. The hospice is open 365 days a year and the care is completely free to families. With more than £3 million needed each year, it remains almost totally reliant on voluntary funding.
