Staff at Specsavers Evesham have pledged to become the biggest losers – as they battle the bulge in a bid to raise funds for a local charity.
Members of the team are joining forces in a sponsored weight loss plan, with the aim of losing a collective 100lbs before Christmas and raising funds for Acorn’s Children’s Hospice.
If the team don’t meet their targeted weight loss before the 25 December, then they will be putting their hands in their pockets to pay the pledged sponsorship money!
Store manager Chi Wong said: ‘With so many of us keen to lose weight we thought we’d make it more motivating – not only by clubbing together with our efforts, but also by ensuring we really do meet our target and avoid us paying the full sponsorship amount!
‘Our store director, Amy Liau, has also promised us all a top notch meal out if we meet the target – although none of us will be wanting to put too many of those pounds back on!’
To support the efforts of the weight loss team, the store is also running a Disney colouring competition in store for children. This coincides with Specsavers’ new range of children’s FROZEN glasses which launched nationwide on 2 September. For a small donation children can pick up an entry form in store from now until 20 December – with a gift for the winning design handed out in time for Christmas.
Acorns Children's Hospice offers a network of care for life limited and life threatened children and young people, and their families, across the heart of England. These children and young people are not expected to reach adulthood and require specialist care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the last year Acorns has supported more than 760 children and more than 980 families, including those who are bereaved.
