The Specsavers Croydon team recently banded together in a fundraising walk to raise much-needed funds for a cause close to their hearts.
Team members supporting one another
Jas Kalsi, Urvi Patel and Emma Gibbons joined their team members, mother and daughter - Wendy and Mandy Kingsford, and Mandy’s two daughters, on a 9 mile ‘Bluebell Walk’ to fundraise for St Christopher’s Hospice. The team name for the walk was aptly called ‘Spectacular Vision, Creating a Better Future’.
The hospice looked after Mandy’s dad (Wendy’s husband) during the last two weeks of his life and the pair were keen to give back to the facility that took such good care of him. In total, the group managed to raise over £750 for the cause, well and truly smashing their original target of £500.
Some words on the walk
Speaking of the hospice, Mandy said, ‘They looked after my dad at home and in the hospice for the last two weeks of his life and they do a fantastic job’.
Store director Bill Pennell said of the walk ‘It was great to see this event happen – it’s an indication of just how much our team cares for one another, and I’m so pleased to hear how much money was raised for the hospice’.
