More than 300 runners crossed the finish line at Rouken Glen Park early this month as participants took part in the annual Giffnock North Amateur Athletics Club Festival of Running.
Sponsored by Specsavers in East Kilbride, along with other stores in and around Glasgow, the gruelling race saw keen entrants complete a 10k run. More than 30 runners attended an evening ceremony to mark their success later in the day.
The 2015 contest marked another successful year of partnership between Specsavers and Giffnock North AAC. Along with sponsoring the event, staff members from the local opticians also competed the race to show their support and sportsmanship.
Shirley-Ann Kennedy, director of Specsavers in East Kilbride, said: ‘It was an honour to sponsor this event for the second consecutive year and it was great to see so many members of staff take part.
‘Giffnock North ACC is a community club which we are proud to support and we look forward to working with the team at next year’s ceremony.’
