Croydon eyecare experts are on the look-out for the borough’s spectacle wearer of the year.
The teams from Specsavers in Croydon’s Church Street and North End stores are calling for specs wearers to pop into store and have their pictures snapped in their favourite frames to put themselves in the running to be named Croydon’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year.
A word from the store director
Bill Pennell, store director at Specsavers in Croydon Church Street and North End, said: ‘We live in one of London’s most stylish boroughs and we want to celebrate our stylish specs wearers. Pop into store, strike a pose and put yourself in the running to be named Croydon’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year.’
Croydon’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year, who will be announced after entries close at midnight on 5 July, will receive a voucher for a free pair of designer glasses, worth £150.
All contestants should be over 16 and should enter the competition in store.
Each entrant will also be entered into the national Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition in conjunction with charity, Kidscape.
As part of the national competition, a winner will be selected from each of the competition’s five age categories: 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s, who will each win a VIP makeover and will mingle with celebrities at an awards ceremony in London on 6 October.
The overall winner of the national competition will scoop £10,000 in cash and a dream stay in Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas.
