Specsavers in Whiteley is currently recruiting for its twelve month apprenticeship scheme. Applications are open to over 16s and require no previous experience. Those that complete the training will become qualified optical assistants with the potential to work in the store full- time.
A real start
Lee Johnston, store director at Specsavers Whiteley explains: ‘Apprenticeships are a great way for people who are just starting out in the working world, to do so in a structured and safe way. We provide the trainee with a real job, excellent training and a nationally recognised qualification.’
Earn while you learn
‘Our apprentices earn a wage and receive additional benefits including paid holiday, this means, rather than pay tuition fees, they can train specifically in the sector they’d like to work in.’ Apprentices will primarily learn on the job, working in-store alongside eyecare professionals. At the same time, they will complete the Level 2 Diploma in Optical Retail with the potential to further qualify as a dispensing optician within five years.
